Our purpose is to create the conditions in which Muslim entrepreneurs and business owners are equipped to succeed professionally, while contributing meaningfully to the broader social and economic fabric of New Zealand.

We are committed to building intergenerational prosperity, reducing barriers to economic participation, and developing the next generation of Muslim business leaders.

MBANZ was established under the umbrella of the Federation of Islamic Associations of New Zealand (FIANZ) and is an affiliate member of the Islamic Chamber of Commerce and Development (ICCD), affiliated to the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC).

Muslim Contribution to the New Zealand Economy

The halal export trade, pioneered through FIANZ’s certification services to the meat industry in the 1970s, has grown into a sector now exceeding $3 billion annually in halal meat exports alone.

Today, the Muslim contribution to the New Zealand economy extends well beyond meat to encompass dairy, chemicals, beverages, honey, processed food, and services in education and tourism — now estimated to contribute over $12 billion annually in total.
